Resolve

Resolve

Leadership is never a smooth ride. If you’re in a position of leadership, you’re likely to
face moments that push you far beyond your comfort zone. Right now, if you’re
grappling with tough decisions and navigating uncertain waters, remember this: stay the
course. Your resolve, wisdom, and ability to make tough calls are exactly what’s needed
in these critical moments.

Consider the Apollo 13 mission, for instance. In 1970, an oxygen tank explosion
crippled the spacecraft, leaving the astronauts with limited power, heat, and resources.
With survival looking unlikely, NASA’s team on the ground and the astronauts in space
had no choice but to think creatively and collaborate relentlessly. They worked day and
night to devise a plan to bring the crew back home safely. Against all odds, their
ingenuity, teamwork, and unshakable resolve turned a dire situation into one of NASA’s
greatest triumphs.

Or take the 1980 Winter Olympics, where the U.S. men’s hockey team—a group mostly
made up of amateur players—was pitted against the Soviet Union’s powerhouse team.
The Soviets were the defending Olympic champions, highly skilled, and widely seen as
unbeatable. Yet, under the leadership of Coach Herb Brooks, the U.S. team played with
heart and determination, pulling off a shocking victory in what came to be known as the
“Miracle on Ice.” That victory wasn’t just about talent; it was about unity, hard work, and
belief in the seemingly impossible.

If you’re facing tough decisions and feeling the weight of responsibility, remember: your
determination matters. Just like the astronauts and the hockey team, you have what it
takes to overcome the challenges ahead. Stay focused, trust in your judgment, and
keep pushing forward—your leadership can create extraordinary results, even in the
most challenging times.

Stay with it. Your resolve is needed far more than you can imagine.
