A Good Friday
“Unless there is a Good Friday in your life, there can be no Easter Sunday.” ~ Fulton J. Sheen
In those lonely hard times, when you have to make those tough decisions that others don’t, it is important to have something inside of you that is bigger than yourself. When you have to be willing to take those actions that require courage others don’t understand, it matters.
Good Friday reminds us that there is something bigger than all of us. One leader, some 2000 years ago, was willing to do what others did not understand, and his actions changed the world. He walked a lonely road for something bigger than himself. It was important; it took courage few understood then and many don’t understand today.
Easter would never be possible without Good Friday. A day during which a series of events led to a sacrifice from the One so that others who put their faith and trust in him could be eternally transformed. That Good Friday of long ago reminds us that leadership requires all of us to make tough decisions. It requires courage when things are in turmoil. At times it can feel lonely. The tough decisions that must be made is one of the reasons you were selected to lead. To do what needs to be done because others matter.
This Good Friday, I wish for you the courage, strength, and peace to lead well…. because it matters.
