The Hidden Cost of Looking the Other Way

The Hidden Cost of Looking the Other Way

Everybody told Janice that Craig was the guy she could count on. Eight years with the company. Top performer. But within weeks, she started seeing cracks. She figured maybe it was just a bad week and let it go.

What Janice thought was a rough patch became a culture problem. Before long, newer workers stopped speaking up, morale started to drop, and little mistakes began piling up. What started as one bad week turned into a productivity issue, a trust issue, and a safety issue.

That is the part leaders need to understand: when bad behavior gets ignored, it starts setting the tone for everybody else. And that silence comes at a cost. It can lead to missed deadlines, rework, accidents, and good workers quitting.

Janice started giving Craig clear and direct feedback, while opening the door for the team to speak up.

Leaders have to step in early. If they don’t, the whole team and the whole company end up paying for it.

Keep leading strong.
