Purpose-Driven Leadership

Purpose-Driven Leadership

“A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way.” ~John C. Maxwell

When you get around purpose-driven organizations you know it. You remember the best ones for how they make you feel about the company. If you work for them, you know how they make you feel about yourself.

The same is true about the leaders within the company too because they focus on the significance of aligning organizational purpose with strategies, values, and driving meaningful change. It can happen at the top of the organization as well as within the departments and teams.

Here are a few companies known for the purpose that drives their organization:

In-N-Out Burger is a family-owned fast-food chain that is known for its commitment to quality and maintaining traditional business practices. The company’s purpose revolves around providing quality food, excellent customer service, and supporting its employees.

Chick-fil-A is a company with purpose-driven initiatives that include its commitment to community involvement, youth education, and fostering family connections.

TOMS is recognized for its “One for One” model. For every product purchased, whether shoes, eyewear, or coffee, TOMS donates a pair of shoes, provides eye care, or supports clean water initiatives to those in need. Their mission centers around improving lives through business.

Whether you work for them or buy their products, their purpose is clear. Within these organizations it is the leaders who play a significant role in helping create and uphold the values that drive the company. It is the leaders who set the tone and temperature of the organization. Their role is championing and embodying the organization’s purpose, fostering a culture that reflects these values.

“When your values are clear to you, making decisions becomes easier.” ~Roy E. Disney

Be a leader that leads with purpose through values. Living and sharing your organization’s purpose with your team is a gift you give them and yourself.
