Invest In Your Organization

Invest In Your Organization

Years ago, my team had a nickname. People called us the weeders. It wasn’t always meant as a compliment. I decided to change that.

We started treating our landscape crew like leaders in training, not just labor. We built a program to teach real skills, not just tasks. We invested in the whole organization, not just the flower beds. The result was a campus that got named one of the most beautiful in the country by Newsweek and the Princeton Review, and a team that started calling themselves something new. Leaders.

That didn’t happen because of better mowers. It happened because we decided the organization itself was worth growing, not just the individuals in it.

Gallup has the numbers to back this up. More than forty percent of employees who left their job in the past year said their leaders could have done something to keep them there. Forty percent. That’s an organization problem, not just a people problem.

When you invest in your organization, in its culture, its training, its systems, you build the kind of place people don’t want to leave. That’s how you become the kind of leader people want to work for.

That’s the whole point of everything I’ve written in this series. Curiosity, drive, consistency, and respect aren’t just personal traits. They’re the roots of a place people are proud to grow in.

Next Thursday, October 15th, I’m hosting a free webinar called “The Leadership Edge: How Top Leaders Build Influence, Grow Value, and Attract the Best People.” Bring a notebook. Bring your questions. Let’s grow something together. Register HERE.

Keep growing,

Jeff
